SEND Advocacy and EHCP Support
Practical, informed advocacy for families navigating SEND support and EHCPs
Families can find SEND systems difficult to navigate, particularly when there is disagreement about a child's needs, the wording or content of an EHCP, the provision being delivered, or whether the current educational setting is appropriate.
Rachel supports families by bringing both professional SEND expertise and a detailed understanding of how schools and local authorities work in practice. Her role is to help parents make sense of the situation, identify the important issues and advocate clearly for support that reflects the individual child's needs.
Supporting Families Throughout their SEND Journey
✔ Helping families understand their child's SEND provision and next steps.
✔ Support in pursuing or developing an EHCP.
✔ Reviewing provision described within an EHCP from an educational perspective.
✔ Helping families identify where provision may be unclear, insufficient or difficult to implement.
✔ Preparing for meetings and discussions with schools or local authorities.
✔ Supporting families where a child's current placement is struggling to meet need.
✔ Considering when more specialist provision may be appropriate.
✔ Keeping the child's experience, safety, access to learning and longer-term outcomes at the centre of discussions.
